Illinois Conceal Carry Classes

Your class instructor is Jason García, a Certified NRA instructor who brings years of experience training under the direction of Force Recon Marines and performing 3-Gun Competitions.

Our 16 hour class is approved by the Illinois State Police. Contact us if you have prior approved training credits to apply and we will provide you with information on reduced pricing and modified schedule.

This class meets from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, at one of our training locations in Aurora, Naperville or Chicago.

Through PowerPoint presentations, practical drills and scenario based training, we will cover all of the following topics in our 16 hour Illinois Conceal Carry Class:

Firearms Safety & Storage

  • 4 basic firearms handling safety rules
  • Home storage
  • Vehicle storage
  • Other storage

Basic principles of marksmanship

  • Stance
  • Grip
  • Sight Alignment
  • Sight Picture
  • Trigger Control
Care, Cleaning, Loading & Unloading of a concealable firearm
  • Gun identification: revolver, semi-automatic, misc.
  • Ammunition identification and selection
  • Safety and cleaning protocols
  • Cleaning equipment
  • Loading and Unloading

Weapon handling

  • Handgun fundamentals
  • Handgun concealment
  • Live fire qualification
  • Live fire qualification with a concealable firearm consisting of minimum of 30 rounds which must include:
  • 10 rounds from a distance of 5 yards;
  • 10 rounds from a distance of 7 yards; and
  • 10 rounds from a distance of 10 yards

All applicable State and Federal Laws relating to the ownership, storage, carry and transportation of a firearm

  • The Act relating to the ownership, storage, carry and transportation of a firearm
    • 1.) With emphasis on 430 ILCS 66/10(h) which includes instruction on the
      appropriate and lawful interaction with law enforcement while transporting or carrying a
      concealed firearm.
  • The FOID Act 430 ILCS 65/1 et. seq.
  • Relevant portions of the ILCS including but not limited to:
    • 720 ILCS 5/7-1 Use of force in defense of a person**
    • 720 ILCS 5/7-2 Use of force in defense of a dwelling**
    • 720 ILCS 5/7-3 Use of force in defense of property**
    • 720 ILCS 24/1 et. seq. Unlawful Use of Weapons**

**We define dwelling, aggressor, forcible felony and unlawful use of weapons pursuant
to the ILCS.

Requirements for this Class

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Hearing protection and safety glasses for the range
  • Firearm (You may also rent one at the range)
  • Bring 50 – 100 rounds of ammo, for your range qualification
  • CCL Students will do their live fire qualification at a State-of-the-Art gun range: The Range at 355. We will depart for the range after our classroom instruction, on Friday afternoon. Students can expect to pay a range fee of $21.99 - $24.99.
  • Bring your FOID Card
  • Bring your Driver’s License or State I.D.
  • Bring a pen and paper
  • A positive attitude and respect for your classmates


We update our Illinois Conceal Carry Course dates every quarter. Listed below are the upcoming dates for this class. Illinois requires 16 hours of instruction, from a Certified Conceal Carry Instructor, to receive your conceal carry certificate. Midwest Marksmanship hosts these classes over a two-day period, on Fridays and Saturdays. Call or e-mail Lead Instructor, Jason Garcia, with the date of your choice.
